MEN Indoor Bias Bowls: Wednesday afternoon. Congratulations to Rosny Park Div. 1 men who had a great season finishing runners up to Glenorchy Rodman in the final Division 2 also had a goog year and finished third after being well in the hunt. Rosny Park hosted the windup to the season with a great round of games and a nice luncheon provided by Sid Higgins and the rest of his crew. Thanks to Joe Borg for his work as Secretary/Treasurer and to Ken Gore for all his work in setting up and general all round support. This season saw the introduction of the Jimmy Dight Memorial Indoor carpet Bowls Trophy which was thrown open to all carpet bowlers and was won by State Rep John Edmondson and presented by John and Vickie Dight to John on Opening Day. Wednesday Evening. This team led by John Edmondson battled hard during the season against big odds and we hope to recruit new players next season. Thanks to Daryl James for his organisation of these games.
Unfortunately Lori Pickin, Phyl Berry, Sue Seabourne and Sue Edmondson were unavailable for selection to play in the State Championships. The teams of Ailsa Milburn (Skip) Edith Atkinson (3) Bev. Gillie (2) Bev. Parker (Lead) and Caralyn Walsh (Skip) Bev. Scott (3) Vi Kitchin (2) May Frogson (Lead) travelled to Somerset, and were successful in defeating the Devonport teams to win the State Pennant Final. The Australian Indoor Championships were held in Terrigal, N.S.W. in the last week in August. Ailsa Milburn skipped a state fours team and they went on to win a silver medal. Caralyn Walsh was selected in the Australian Test Squad to trial in Melbourne in January, and if successful will play in New Zealand later in 2007.
