IVY SLY WINS BOWLS SOUTH TOP AWARD

Ivy won the prestigious award of Bowls Tasmania South Bowler of the Year Open 2006-07.

Ivy had a sensational year winning this award 40 points ahead of her nearest rival.  Points are allotted to players over the year in events run by Bowls Tasmania South, and events in Tasmania.

Ivy’s achievements are as follows:-

-          Winner South Open Singles combined with D.L. Reid.

-          Winner Tasmanian Champion of Champions Open Singles.

-          Runner up South Open Pairs with Judy Reeve skip.

-          Winner Rosny Park Open Pairs with Jusy Reeve skip.

-          Winner Master Triples with Jusy Reeve, and Mary Beaumont (Latrobe) skip.

-          Winner Tasmanian Open Fours with Margaret Pearce (Launceston), Jusy Reeve, Mary Beaumont skip.

-          Equal third Tasmania Open Triples with Jusy Reeve, Mary Beaumont skip.

-          Ivy and Judy also represented Tasmania at the recent National Round Robin in A.C.T. The team of Margaret Pearce, Ivy, Judy and skip Mary Beaumont won five of the seven games played against some of Australia’s top players.

Ivy was also in Rosny Park’s Div 1 penant side that recently won the State Title.  The team of Margaret Kirwan, Rose Hardy, Ivy and Judy Reeve (skip) were undefeated for the season 2006-07.

Rosny Park members Ivy Sly & Judy Reeve (pictured) were part of the team that won the State Open Fours.  The team consisted of  Mary Beaumont (skip) Judy Reeve, Ivy Sly, Margaret Pearce.

The games were played at Buckingham Bowls Club over three days.

 

The Special Fours was held in the south recently with the team (pictured) of Ailsa Milburn (skip) Freda Mason, Betty Pennington and Bev Parker being victorious.  The final was played against a team from Beltana skipped by Marie Colgrave.  Rosny Park had good representation in the semi finals with three teams playing.

 

R.A.C.T. EVENT:

A very enjoyable day was had by all on Tuesday 26th September at the Club when the ladies competed for the first trophy of the season, sponsored by R.A.C.T.  The winners were :  Shirley Knight (skip), Margaret Kirwan, Dawn Docking, and Mary Thow.  Runners up  :  Ivy Sly (skip), Bev Parker, and May Pollock.
